CALLIPO is one of main players in the Italian tuna market for more than 100 years. Founded in 1913, it was the first one in Calabria to can Mediterranean Tuna. Filippo Callipo, current CEO, who represents the fourth generation, transferred production to the current plant, having a total surface area of about 34,000 square meters, 9,000 of which are covered with high innovative machineries. To guarantee high standard quality, Callipo has chosen to maintain the production in Italy, using Yellowfin Tuna. The specialized accurate cleaning, the rigid chunk selection and the tinning and individually filled glass jar follow a process of valued time-honoured formats and are still done by hand, fully respecting food safety rules and regulations.
